Job Summary:


Are you passionate about creativity and working with kids? We are looking for creative, reliable, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Air Dry Clay Art Instructors for an after school enrichment program serving elementary/middle school students. This is a hands on, part-time teaching role where you'll guide students through fun, engaging clay projects using air dry clay. Our clay art program is new and quickly expanding across multiple school districts, and we’re excited to bring in passionate instructors who want to grow with us. Duties:


- Lead engaging air-dry clay art lessons for students in grades TK–8th, using a structured curriculum designed to spark creativity, build fine motor skills, and introduce students to basic sculpting techniques; as many as twenty (20) students at a time.

- Implement hands-on, age-appropriate clay curriculum that align with both artistic exploration and educational goals, encouraging self-expression, patience, and confidence through the creative process.

- Prepare, set up, and clean up materials before and after each session, ensuring an organized and safe classroom environment; transport and care for clay supplies and student artwork as needed.

- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment by fostering respectful interactions, celebrating effort over perfection, and tailoring support to students with different learning needs.

- Manage classroom behavior effectively and independently, redirecting disruptions calmly and confidently while keeping students engaged, focused, and supported throughout the activity.

- Travel between designated school sites as scheduled, arriving on time and ready to teach.

- Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and program coordinators when needed, representing the organization with a warm and enthusiastic attitude.


Knowledge and abilities:


- Knowledge of basic clay art techniques, specifically with air-dry clay, including sculpting, shaping, and finishing methods suitable for elementary age children.

- Understanding of child development and classroom dynamics, especially for TK–8th grade, with the ability to adapt instruction to various age groups and learning styles.

- Ability to manage a classroom independently and maintain a calm, structured, and engaging atmosphere that supports both creative expression and respectful behavior.

- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to set up and clean up quickly, follow a class schedule, and stay on track during hands on projects.

- Clear and effective communication skills with children, coworkers, school personnel, and parents, both verbally and in writing.

- Creative problem solving and flexibility, especially when handling unexpected classroom challenges, material mishaps, or changes in schedule.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative while also following program guidelines and curriculum structure.

- Cultural sensitivity and inclusion-mindedness, with an understanding of how to create a safe space for all students regardless of background or ability.


Experience:


- Previous experience working with children, ideally in an educational, enrichment, camp, or after-school program setting.

- Background in visual arts, crafts, or hands-on creative work, experience with clay, sculpture, or similar mediums is highly valued.

- Experience leading or facilitating group activities, demonstrating the ability to manage time, engage students, and maintain classroom structure without direct supervision.

- Familiarity with teaching or presenting lesson based content.

- Experience managing materials and setting up creative workspaces, ideally in a mobile or classroom based format.


Physical demands:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, as well as being able to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is often required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and move rapidly. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds and sometimes lift and/or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Compensation:


Range: $24/hr


Mileage reimbursement is provided between work locations to support your commute.


LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


The possession of/or securing of a CPR Certificate within thirty (60) days of employment in this classification.
